Wikipedia GamesThis is a featured page

Two of my VHS (Virtual High School) students shared these games with our class last year. I think they could easily be adapted for language purposes. Lisa B.:

Wikipedia Game 1

Go to wikipedia.org
Click on English (but maybe check on Spanish or Frech for language purposes)

Click "Random Article" on the left hand side

Now here are a few games to play!
1. See how long it takes you to get to Chicken Noodle Soup
2. Get to Jesus in 5 clicks (this is a thinking one)
3. See how long it takes: Go from Henry Ford to Listerine
4. See how long it takes: Go from Alarm Clock to Epistemology

Wikipedia Game 2

You need an opponent and two computers.

1. Each person selects two obscure wikipedia topics - one for their opponent to start at, and one for the opponent to finish. (i.e.. The Spanish Armada and James Dean) The topics must have a wikipedia page on them. Again, each person selects two topics for their opponent to go between.

2. Each person then goes to the wikipedia page corresponding to the first topic assigned by their opponent.

3. Then, each person must go from the first topic to the other topic only by clicking links on the webpage.

4. The winner is the one who makes it from one topic to the other first; it's like a race between wikipedia pages.
