Tried and True First Days of School ActivitiesThis is a featured page

DEB

Hello everyone! Y'all know I'm starting at a new school (this week--Dios mio!!). You are such a talented group of professionals, and I know you all have some wonderful things you do on the first days of school. It's my turn to be your student: could you share some of your great ideas? I'm teaching a hodge podge of levels: 2, 4 honors, and (of course!) my 5 Honors Film course. Thanks to Merrie for already giving me some fantastic ideas! Merci/Gracias!

I moved 11 times with Lee in the Navy. I remember all too well how it felt to leave all family, friends, etc. behind and start over. With your great personality, Deb, you will have tons of new frineds in no time. About the first day of school......I returned from Costa Rica last Wednesday, spent Thursday and Friday unpacking and setting up my classroom for the new school year. On our first official day yesterday my department chair reminded me to set up the test schedule for the year and get it to the rest of the department here and send it to the two middle school Spanish departments as I always do. And so I did. But for some reason I did not feel the same sense of accomplishment that I usually feel completing that task..........Our first day consists of the activities presented in the textbook, of course. But I will be looking for little ways that I can deviate from "the plan" this year!
