Iceland, 2006I am originally from Newburyport, Massachusetts, but now live just outside of Boston. I received my B.A. from Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island, with a major in French and a minor in Italian. My junior year abroad was spent at the Université de Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland. I have also completed two intensive summer programs at the Université Laval, Québec, Canada. This is my first year in the Master of Arts in Teaching a Second Language (MATSL) program at Bennington College.

I have been teaching French for five years at the middle school level, grades 6, 7 & 8. Each morning I travel the backroads for about twenty minutes (to avoid the horrendous morning traffic) to my school, located in the Metrowest region of Boston. I have been at my current school for the past four years. Besides teaching my other responsibilities include being a co-adviser of the French Club, JV field hockey coach and coordinator of the 8th grade trip to Québec.

My past times include photography, travelling, cooking, gardening and hiking!

Newburyport, MA, the most painted seaport in the world (or the US, or something). A beautiful spot though. I bet you have some lovely photos! Lisa B.

You travel with 8th-graders? I admire your courage! Just taking my 8th-graders outside on a warm day fills me with fear! Laura
